Module content | Clothing merchandising aspects: fashion buying and planning function, controlling inventories, factors influencing stock movement, redistribution of stock; merchandising processes, sourcing and relationship with suppliers; management roles and responsibilities. Buying strategies, forecasting and records, preparing a buying plan, developing an assortment plan. Global sourcing perspective for the South African clothing industry. Economic, social and environmentally responsible sourcing practices of retailers. This module addresses UN sustainable development goals: #8 (decent work and economic growth), #9 (industry innovation and infrastructure) and #12 (responsible consumption and production). |
